How do you calculate an antipode?

Reverse the latitude’s sign. Add 180° to a negative longitude, or subtract 180° from a positive longitude. For example, 38° N, 9° W becomes 38° S, 171° E.

Will I find a city on the other side?

Often you will find ocean. A nearby city is a reference from our bundled database, and may be thousands of kilometers away. It is not a claim that your antipode is in that city.

How accurate is my result?

The antipode formula is exact for the supplied latitude and longitude. City centers are approximate; device location accuracy varies. Five decimal places describe roughly meter-scale coordinate precision, not guaranteed measurement accuracy.

Is it really free?

Yes. Search, calculations, and the bundled maps run without paid APIs. Optional advertising may support the site. No account is required.
