A little perspective.
What’s My Antipode is a free geography tool for finding the point directly opposite a location on Earth. No account, paid geocoding, or subscription is needed.
Methodology
For latitude φ and longitude λ in degrees, the antipode is −φ with longitude λ + 180° normalized to [−180°, 180°). Both poles have equivalent longitudes. Distances to city references use the haversine formula and mean Earth radius 6,371.0088 km. These are spherical surface estimates.
Sources & licenses
Bundled city records are derived from GeoNames cities15000, licensed under CC BY 4.0. Fields are selected, population sorted, and converted to JSON. Search covers this snapshot, not every settlement or street address.
Globe and fallback map geometry use Natural Earth public-domain data, distributed through world-atlas. The simplified coastlines are for orientation, not navigation or precise land/water classification.
Three.js and topojson-client are MIT licensed; Astro is MIT licensed. Their license notices are included in the source distribution’s dependency notices. External OpenStreetMap and Mapillary pages have their own terms and privacy policies.
Accuracy & availability
The coordinate transformation is deterministic. Input data, device accuracy, map simplification, and city database coverage have practical limits. No coverage or third-party service availability is guaranteed. Search visibility and AI citations are not guaranteed.
